From 2005 to 2022, the main node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies was headquartered at James Cook University in Townsville, Queensland (Australia)

PhD graduate

My primary research interest focuses on the effects of habitat degradation on the ecology of reef fishes. In particular I investigate how competitive interactions between reef fishes are affected by changes in both the abundance and quality of the coral habitat. A second research interest involves control methods for outbreaks of the crown-of-thorns starfish, Acanthaster planci (COTS).

Lisa pursued a BSc Honours Degree at JCU in marine biology, and is currently a PhD candidate at JCU investigating ecological effects of habitat degradation. In particular her project focuses on how on competition between reef fishes is affected by decreasing habitat quality. She is supervised by Professors Geoff Jones, Phil Munday and Dr. Mary Bonin
