From 2005 to 2022, the main node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies was headquartered at James Cook University in Townsville, Queensland (Australia)
Sivee Chawla is a PhD student working with Graeme Cumming and Tiffany Morrison in understanding rural urban dynamics and develop a model based on Ostrom Framework. She is from Delhi, India. She pursued Computer Science Engineering from Delhi at undergraduate level and thereafter worked with IBM for some time. She has always perceived computer science as a tool to solve multi-disciplinary issues. Thus, she moved on to pursue her Masters in Geoformation Sciences and Earth Observation (Remote sensing and GIS in short), which was in collaboration with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Twente University, Netherlands. The topic of her master’s thesis was to “develop sub pixel classification algorithm by exploiting spatial and spectral information in remote sensing images using Markov Random Fields and Possibilistic methods”. Following which, she worked in India as a GIS modelling engineer and moved to Belgium where she worked as a researcher at VITO (Flemish Institute of Technological research) in the field of remote sensing and GIS, for water quality estimation.
