I grew up in rural Botswana, in the northwestern part of the country. I obtained an MPhil in Natural Resources Management from the Okavango Research Institute, University of Botswana in 2016. My research focuses on understanding the complex interaction between environmental and social change over space and through time, from a systems perspective. I am also interested in political ecology and how economic, social, and political factors influence the ways in which people perceive and respond to changes in freshwater ecosystems (and social-ecological systems, SES). My doctoral research examines how the complex governance system of the Lake Ngami SES in Botswana has evolved in responding to dynamic and uncertain changes in social and environmental (climatic, ecological, and hydrological) components of the lake system, by understanding and analyzing the historical institutional context, heterogeneity and social memory of resource actors, and the broader economic, social, and political setting they are nested in. The research project is undertaken under the supervision of Dr. Amy Diedrich and Prof. Tiffany Morrison.
