Morane is a PhD student at the University of Queensland since July 2020, at the Marine Spatial Ecology Lab under the supervision of Prof Peter Mumby. With a BSc degree in Biology of Organisms (University of Rennes 1, France) and a MSc degree in Coastal Ecology and Environmental Management (University of La Rochelle, France), she moved to Australia in 2016 to study the impacts of the 2015/2016 El Niño-induced heatwave on the coral reefs of Western Australia, with a focus on the naturally heat-stress resistant coral communities of the Kimberley region. This work she conducted at the University of Western Australia (Perth) with Dr Verena Schoepf for her Master thesis increased her passion for the complexity of coral reef ecosystems, leading her to start her PhD at UQ to explore how climate change can undermine connectivity in the Great Barrier Reef.
