Kelsey’s early passion for the biology and ecology of marine organisms, developed in the subtropical waters of South-East Queensland, led him to migrate north to Towsnville in 2016. After completing his undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at James Cook University, he underwent an Honours project, supervised by Prof. Geoffrey Jones and Dr Maya Srinivasan, researching the ecology of macroalgae and fishes in Kimbe Bay, PNG. This led him to his current PhD project at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, in which he is investigating the influence of macroalgae on fish and fish functions on the Great Barrier Reef, under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Hoey, Dr Katharina Fabricius and Prof. Morgan Pratchett
