Josie Chandler

Josie Chandler

MPhil Candidate

Josie completed her BSc in Marine Biology at Newcastle University in the UK where her dissertation project focussed on the feeding preferences of Chaetedon triangulum in the Maldives. Enjoying Maldivian life, Josie worked in the Maldives for the two years following her graduation and has since worked in research and education roles in Indonesia, Mozambique and most recently, onboard a sailing boat undertaking a circumnavigation race. Josie has recently started her MPhil at JCU, working remotely from the UK until travel allows her to relocate to Townsville. Her research project will involve establishing baseline data on the population structure and dynamics of Crown of Thorns starfish in their non-outbreaking state. This data aims to further our understanding of outbreak initiation and assist in developing an early warning system for future population outbreaks. Josie's supervisors are Morgan Pratchett and Ciemon Caballes.
